Scouting For Food

On January 26th, Troop 1913 went around and put flyers for Scouting for Food on doors in Harmony, Woodson, and Lockridge. Scouting for Food is a service project to care for people in our local communities who are hungry and those in need. Scouts returned the following Saturday, February 2, 2019, to pick up and deliver donations to their local food banks and pantries.

There were around 20 people putting up flyers, and about 6 people collecting the food. Our troop collected approximately 800 pounds of food, and our district collected OVER 9000 pounds of food! When we picked up the food, it felt like we were saving lives.

Campout Spring Creek

Over the 3-Day weekend, the scouts went to Spring Creek. We camped in the sand. When we put our tents up, we had to tie our tents to logs. The wind was already crazy, and one tent fell over twice.  We played King of the Hill and dug caves and hid from the wind. It was super windy, with a 'little' rain.

Evan was our chef, and we had hot dogs for dinner. We sat around the campfire and talked about ways that this could've been better. A cold front came in overnight, and we were woken up by a storm.

The tents blew over at one point, and the boys almost fell over. Chase and Jude's tent pinned them down, and when they were free, they camped in someone else's tent. When we saw their tent though, it was perfect.

The storm got pretty crazy and lots of gear was blowing around.  It was too much for some people, so we went to Evan's house at 3am and slept the night there. We stayed there, had 4 hours of sleep, went back, and had cereal and donuts. The experience was very... different.

Troop Meeting October 9th 2018

Today the Rattlers and the Ice Dragons worked on Personal Fitness. We started off in the gym, but when we did the mile, we went outside. When we were almost done, it started raining. Now I have a new record for running a mile. A unit commissioner came in and told us we got an award. After that, we did the aerobic part, then the sit-ups, then push-ups.
